A Partial List of Artists in My iTunes Library That I Cannot Decide How to Properly Name
- Joan Jett and the Blackhearts or Jett, Joan and the Blackhearts?
- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers or Petty, Tom and the Heartbreakers?
- Rilo Kiley or Kiley, Rilo?
- Ted Leo & the Pharmacists or Leo, Ted & the Pharmacists?
- Biz Markie or Markie, Biz?
- John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band or Cafferty, John & The Beaver Brown Band?
- Camper Van Beethoven or Van Beethoven, Camper?
- Lynyrd Skynyrd or Skynyrd, Lynyrd?
- Rob Zombie or Zombie, Rob?
hehe .. true true .. you should like them to their deezer page eg: http://www.deezer.com/#music/result/Lynyrd%20Skynyrd
rilo kiley is a band, not a name…. so it shouldn’t be listed as last name, first name! same for lynyrd skynyrd and most of those listed! BANDS! not NAMES of people– your iTunes library is not a phonebook.
you can use the sort by feature in itunes so that your artist name can appear as “joan jett and the blackhearts” and it can be filed under “jett”. also, you can use last.fm which tries to establish standards for tagging so that statistics on play counts are sound.
i personally have relented and now am fine seeing “doughty, mike” under “m” for “mike doughty”
