Monday Night Workout

‘Twas a painfully brutal session at the gym tonight with @kbakst. It’s been several months since we finished the Velocity Diet, and we’re both in pretty damn good shape, but we’re still lifting weights as if morbid obesity was knocking at the door. I’ve been more focused on keeping the rest time between sets at

The Velocity Diet – Week Two

We’re now two-and-a-half days into Week Three of the Velocity Diet, so I suppose I should post my update about Week Two. I’m not going to lie to you: Week Two was pretty rough. The workouts get much more gruesome and the desire to consume something other than protein shakes becomes brutal. But the change

The Velocity Diet – Week One

At this point Kelly and I are now officially through the first week of the Velocity Diet, and I have to be honest with you: It’s been tough. It is unbelievably surprising just how much I sincerely miss chewing food. I’ve now had forty-three protein shakes — 39 chocolate and 4 strawberry — and a

Hydrostatic Body Composition Analysis

On Saturday I met Kelly around 10 o’clock in the morning, deep in the Valley, to get our body fat analysis done before we embark upon the Velocity Diet. The good folks at Fitness Wave have a mobile testing unit that travels throughout Southern California. It’s basically a 28′ truck converted into a scientific lab-on-wheels.

Post-Workout Power Shake

Bally’s Total Fitness Account Update

Dealing with my hacked checking account has been a major pain in the ass. I have had to update dozens of companies who were automatically debiting my checkcard. The fine people at Bally’s Total Fitness allow you to pay your bill online, but for some reason it is near impossible to determine how to update

Catch-Up

Catch-Up

I only managed 6.7 miles, today, and since I skipped my 5-miler on Wednesday, that means I’m a little bit under par for the year so far. But the Gators won their second BCS Championship tonight (in three years) so I’m cutting myself some slack. Go Gators!

Running Playlist

Running Playlist

My five-mile time last night was 47:16. That’s not exactly stellar, but I’ll take it. Thirty miles down, 1,795 to go. I have a playlist on my Nano with about 75 songs on it. They’re all great “running” songs, either because of the tempo or just because they’re motivational. Here are the tracks I heard

A few years ago I was trying to determine what cocktails I could make with the alcohol I had at home. I searched the App Store but couldn't find an app that would let me do that, so I built one.
