  • I’m confused by the many complaints I’ve seen online recently about the streaming quality of NFL games on Amazon Prime. I have AT&T Gigabit fiber at home and for regular TV use the DirecTVStream app embedded in my Samsung TV. If I want to watch something on Amazon Prime, I use their app instead, also baked into the TV software. I honestly think the image quality of the Amazon NFL games beats what I see on NBC, CBS, FOX, and ESPN on DirecTVStream most of the time, which seems crazy to me. You’d think AT&T would either boost DirecTVStream bandwidth (since they own them) or somehow hamstring the Prime bandwidth. But that’s not the case at all.

I miss being able to drag and drop to organize my iOS screen layout(s) on my laptop. I also wish Sonoma (14.2.1) would do a better job recognizing when my iPhone (17.2.1) is on the same WiFi network as my machine. I have lost count of the number of times a synchronization has failed because my iPhone “can’t be found” even when it’s sitting six inches from my MacBook Air and they are both definitely on the same network. And it’s enough to make me scream when this happens even when it’s literally connected to my laptop with a USB-C cable.

I wish I could toggle whether read receipts are enabled in Messages on a per conversation basis.

iOS Baseball Score NotificationsWhich app’s score presentation do you think I prefer?

I appreciate that the CBS one shows the pitching data, which is (traditionally) the second-most important meta data about the game. But the fact that I can’t tell who won the game, which is the most important data point anyone wants to see, makes their alert more annoying than it is useful. If it wasn’t for the CBS football pick’em games, I’d delete the app entirely because of this dumb alert. The app from The Athletic is far superior.

It’s effectively impossible to manage uploaded photos on Amazon Alexa devices using the iOS app because if you’ve uploaded more than about 120 photos, the screen refreshes back to the top any time you scroll down more than a few pages.

I’ve reported this twice now to the Alexa team and gotten no response. I even explained why it was happening and how to fix it! (I had to deal with the same issue with my bartender app.)

A few years ago I was trying to determine what cocktails I could make with the alcohol I had at home. I searched the App Store but couldn't find an app that would let me do that, so I built one.
